The Beacon Church
History
We’ve been here serving God on Canford Heath since 1968 when the Heath Estate was only a few houses and many more wooden stakes in the ground.
Originally known as Canford Heath URC Church, we are part of the United Reformed Church (URC) denomination which is a church of some 90,000 or so members across the UK. The URC was formed by a joining of the “Presbyterian Church” and the “Congregational Church” in the 1970’s, and with the “Churches of Christ” some years later.
(See www.urc.org.uk and www.gear.org.uk for further details)
As a local representation of the Church here on the Heath, we have sought to shine the Light of Jesus' Love into the community! People have faithfully met to worship God, to pray & work for our community and wider world each week.
Our buildings have had over 40 years of very effective but hard use by church & all sorts of community groups, so we have just completed a grand scheme of refurbishment. Relaunching & rebranding ourselves to become...
The Beacon Church!
However, we believe that the Church is the people and not the building.
We currently have a lively & welcoming all age family of over 100 - but we’ve always room for a few more!
